Home » Ford » 2017 Ford Bronco Redesign — It Will Come To Celebrate 50th Anniversary!? Confirmed! The New Bronco Will Arrive In 2019.

There are many different assumptions and rumors about next-generation Bronco, so it is quite hard to find a real truth. This boxy off-roader that was produced from 1966 to 1996 is missing from the market almost twenty years, so if you ask us the 2016 seems like a good year for the big comeback. For two years from here, the Bronco will celebrate 50th anniversary, and the car maker might surprise us with the redesigned 2017 Ford Bronco. In this moment Ford doesn’t have this kind SUV in its division, and as a matter of fact the current Jeep Wrangler is the only true off-road vehicle on the North American market. The next-generation Wrangler will arrive in 2017, so the comeback of 2017 Bronco in 2016 also seems as the right move.

2017 Ford Bronco Redesign Based On Atlas Concept

Even though it has the equivalent in South America, the all-new 2017 Ford Bronco won’t be based on it. Its Brazilian counterpart Troller T4 simply can’t satisfy the needs of US drivers, so it can not be the basis for next-gen Bronco.

The most effective approach for Bronco’s redesign is over Ford’s Atlas concept, that has all necessary features to place-in this off-road rough vehicle. Although originally intended full-size pickup truck (2015 F-150), the Atlas actually represents the beginning for all future Ford SUVs. Its lightweight chassis, mostly made from aluminum, seems like an excellent base for the 2017 Ford Bronco. Even more, bearing in mind already announced lighter body construction for the next-gen, 2018 Wrangler, earlier presented Bronco could be a jackpot for Ford. In addition to the light weight body, this off-roader could also get some other new features, like fuel-efficiency improvements with active grille shutters, stop-start system, and other upgrades. Bronco’s distinctive boxy exterior bodywork should be enriched with plenty of muscles and additionally butched up, while the interior layout should exude with style and luxury.

2017 Ford Bronco Engines

The 2017 Ford Bronco should come with two powertrain option. First engine could be Ford’s new turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6, with the maximum output of 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, while the other must be a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Both 4×4 and 4×2 drive configurations will be available, while a six-speed automatic should be the only option for the 2017 Bronco, because there is no need for manual gearbox, at least not for the US market. However, there is a strong possibility for one V-8, most likely 5.0-liter engine, which already ‘performs’ in 2015 F-150. This engine delivers 385 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque, and it could be a good choice for the Bronco because it features surprisingly high performance.

2017 Ford Bronco Only True Rival To The 2018 Wrangler

However, these are just assumptions about 2017 Ford Bronco, but considering an increasing interest in this formerly popular off-road SUV, we think that it has a good chance to return and become the only true rival of the next-gen Jeep Wrangler.

Updated 02/01/2015: The latest rumors about 2017 Ford Bronco suggest that this off-roader might take the same engine as the 2017 Raptor. If the next generation Bronco really comes next year, it will have the astonishing amount of power under the hood. Let’s remind you that this Raptor’s new twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 delivers around 450 horsepower, which is more than for the next Bronco. Ford’s long-anticipated 10-speeder pairs Raptor’s engine, and if the Bronco really comes, we can also expect the same transmission.

Updated 11/11/2015:According to the newest reports, the new generation Bronco won’t stay just a myth. The iconic off-roader is missing over 20 years, but the carmaker has finally decided to bring it back. However, the revival won’t be as close as we expected, and the latest information indicates that the SUV should come sometime in 2019 as the 2020 Ford Bronco. The vehicle will be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant after production of the C-Max and Focus ends there in 2018, and moreover, it here the manufacturer plans to build one more returnee. It is a mid-sized pickup truck – the US-specs 2018 Ford Ranger, which will probably be a pattern for the next-generation Bronco.
